Common Podiatric Conditions

As we age we naturally develop more problems with our feet.

Athlete's foot is a fungal infection of the skin that can lead to intense itching, cracked, blistered or peeling areas of skin, redness and scaling. 

Blisters are painful, fluid-filled lesions produced by friction and pressure. Find out how to prevent them occurring and how to treat them. 

A bunion is a deformity of the big toe which leads to a bony lump on the side of the foot.

Common Sporting Injuries

During sport the forces between your feet and the ground are amplified. Sports Injuries Overuse syndromes are common occurrences in sport and include injuries sustained from repeated action such as long distance running.

Corns and calluses form as a protective response to skin rubbing against a bone, shoe or the ground.

Foot or low arched foot.  

Fungal Nail Infections

Fungal Nail is often caused by fungi found growing on skin, hair, nails and other bodily surfaces. When they get underneath your nail, it causes yellow/brownish discolouration and the nail can become quite thick.

Gout is an inflammatory type of arthritis that causes severe joint pain. 

Heel pain is a common complaint and can affect anyone. 

An ingrowing toenail occurs where a piece of nail pierces the flesh of the toe. 

Verrucae are plantar warts that commonly occur on the soles of the feet or around the toe area. 

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the hands, feet, wrists, ankles and knees.

Halllux Rigidus refers to a toe with reduced or rigid big toe movement. 

A persistent problem which can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. 

There are a number of various types of deformities.
